Nikolay KHONDZINSKY

was born in Moscow in 1985. He was brought up in a family of professional musicians. He is a laureate and prize-winner of All-Russian and international violin contests for children and adolescents. Having finished The Gnesins State Music College with the specialization in choral conducting, he studied at the Department of Conducting of P.I.Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire in the class of Associate Professor V. A. Kalinin, and then in the class of Professor L.N.Nikolayev. Nikolay Khondzinsky regularly attended master classes given by Eduard Serov, a professor at St. Petersburg Conservatoire and a student of E.A.Mravinsky. Since 2006, he has been studying in the class of the composer Yury Abdokov, whose confidence and support have played a pivotal role in the young musician’s development. He is also a laureate of Boris Tchaikovsky Award (2008).

Nikolay Khondzinsky is the founder, art director and conductor of the Chamber Choir “Russkaya Konservatoriya” (a chamber choir and an orchestra), a team who have already managed to earn a reputation as rediscoverers of unfairly forgotten masterpieces of Russian music of the 20th century, as well as of some European music baroque memorials which are unknown in Russia. The most significant works of “Russkaya Konservatoriya” include the historically first recording of all the choral opuses by the prominent Russian composer of the 20th century V. Ya. Shebalin (Toccata Classics, UK), the first recording of “The Songs of a Guard's Division” by D.D.Shostakovich (ordered by the same company), the world premiere of the choruses of the cycle “Songs From Hard Times ” by G. Sviridov set to the lyrics by A. Blok, the premieres of opuses by Yu. Abdokov, the Russian premieres of works by G.F.Teleman, J.C.Bach and J.D.Zelenka; a monographic concert at the All-Russian festival “Sviridov December Evenings” held annually at the composer’s birthplace (the city of Kursk); performing “Our Father” by L.Janáček within the framework of the 10th International Organ Festival; the world premiere of “Gloria” by Jan Dismas Zelenka.

Nikolay Khondzinsky has given performances at the best concert halls of Moscow, including the Grand and Small Halls of Moscow Conservatoire, Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, the Palace on the Yauza, and many others.

Since 2009, he has been a conductor at Ryazan Regional Music Theatre.

Since 2008, he has been the head of the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras at Haydn Music School. The teams under the direction of N. Khondzinsky have repeatedly become laureates of various contests and festivals.

Since 2010, he has been a conductor at the Theatre “RUSSKAYA OPERA”.
